Königsberg/Kaliningrad squared

Medium format, Fuji RDP II roll film, 6×6 format – this was the point of departure. The Soviet, then also post-Soviet expanse (or void?) became associated with the square. These are pictures from the Kaliningrad or Königsberg city centre, right where the old and tranquil town used to be. Now there’s just concrete or nothing. Other pictures are of the coast: Cranz, now Zelenogradsk, a favoured seaside resort for Kaliningraders, and for people from central Russia. Turkey? Too dangerous. The West? Russians are frowned upon there now. Why not just get on a plane in Moscow and be relaxing on the Baltic beach within a couple of hours? And it’s Russian-speaking.
