The Mystic Series is a conceptual photo series that remains ongoing to this day. Its goal is to use special locations, works of art, or architecture in as many countries as possible to demonstrate that there is an “invisible” thread connecting all peoples. It is a kind of archetype that evokes the same associations of a spiritual primal connection and primal longing in all people. The photographs in the series create a cross-cultural network that transcends cultures, religions, and eras. The photographs, rendered in blue, form the connection points across the globe. Ideally, every country on Earth should be represented by at least one “representative” in the series – which is precisely why this photo series is far from complete.
The blue tone of the photographs underscores this sensation and serves as an additional bond – in an “incredible, almost religious blue that brings to mind the famous painting series by Yves Klein” (Ingeborg Ruthe, Berliner Zeitung, October 23, 2012).
All photographs up to 2013 are analog shots and were only digitally post-processed in individual cases. The photographs from 2013 onwards, e.g., Tenerife, Japan, and London, were taken digitally (Nikon DF) – however, in “real time” and were only retouched in a few places. It is always the moment that counts!
